In this photograph, a metal gate occupies most of the bottom two-thirds. Attached to the top left of the gate is a vertical bar from which barbed wire extends to the right and which is set against a pale-blue sky. On the gate is a sign reading ‘Strictly no parking’ and ’24 hr access required’. Beyond the gate, and only partly obscured by it, is an end-on view of a subway carriage in a yard. And beyond the carriage, and visible through and above the gate, are other subway carriages, a cabin and a couple of automobiles. To the rear of the yard are various buildings.
