“For full disclosure, this project is nearly all AI implemented using chatGPT. I know the use of AI comes with reactions running the gamut from wow that’s cool! to pitchforks and torches. I spent countless hours passionately working on the current Saturn online infrastructure without any AI tools and I’m extremely proud of that work. In the past year I’ve begun to overcome my skepticism and learn to more effectively work with AI tools. AI has allowed me to see some of my more creative ideas come to light. Working with AI can be exhausting in its own way, but it still amazes me when something does work out. I’m not in the habit of putting something out that I think is sub-par or buggy. I’ve done my best to be targeted and intentional throughout this project to avoid anything that could be called ‘AI slop.’ With all that being said, I think this ghost portal is already slick AF and if you choose to use it, I hope you enjoy it.”
“In fact, 99% of this game was written by AI including the network stack,” Farkus said on Discord back in March when the game was first being developed. Even the animated character portraits and other artwork in the game were generated by AI. But they insist they couldn’t have made the game or its portable NetLink code without Claude. “I actually can’t code at all… and hardly read it,” Farkus said. “But with AI, I can suddenly do a lot. But knowing how to prompt is key. It takes practice and the right reference material.”

Please stop legitimizing LLMs or AI image generators or GitHub Copilot or any of this garbage. I am begging you to stop using them, stop talking about them, stop making new ones, just stop. If blasting CO2 into the air and ruining all of our freshwater and traumatizing cheap laborers and making every sysadmin you know miserable and ripping off code and books and art at scale and ruining our fucking democracy isn’t enough for you to leave this shit alone, what is? If you personally work on developing LLMs et al, know this: I will never work with you again, and I will remember which side you picked when the bubble bursts.
