Nemesis is especially an infuriating case for me because there is a lot of potential. It is even pointed out. Yet it still doesn't go far beyond "You don't have what it takes" "I literally do" "ok whatever". No matter what Melinoe has to prove to them they, and in turn, she, is worthy of their basic respect. yet basic respect not make compelling romance or character dynamics, you are simply left with a hollow feeling of a fling happening and now you need to form headcanons as to how else things could've gone. end id
Text post: Out of all of them I think Eris shoves herself to be the most interesting romance as she plainly states her intentions and motivations "I'm strife so I'll make your life harder and you're fun to mess with." and Melinoe falls into her "fixer" mentality with her too but Eris actively pushes back against Melinoe's notion of fixing. "What you see is what you get. don't try to find something that doesn't exist." And while Melinoe herself then points out that Eris has made steps that go against her usual habits just for Melinoe's sake. (gifting her nectar in return, showing up consistently, even melinoe points it out as potential positive endeavors) So for Eris there is active challenge against Melinoe's true flaws, over reliance on pleasing others.
