The tropics are often near human metabolic limits during their regular hot seasons. Add in a monster El Niño, and a few blackouts and the death toll for humans (and fauna in general) could surpass what even an earthquake can cause.
"Still within range" was used a lot since 2023. What we meant was that temperatures are within the top range of our worst case projections. Now that we are actually outside the range - what I hear is "we're still alive". Only CanESM5 and UKESM1 hot models get forcing and EEI rights today?
