Fiore and this girl met about 2-3 years before they started working at the hospital. They met at a farmers market while Fio was out with his mother getting imported supplies for their apothecary, and bonded over their shared passion for medicine, becoming VERY fond of each other. This didn’t last because she eventually found out that Fio was a female at birth, and the realization of having feelings for someone of the same sex caused her to panic and lash out. Things ended terribly and it lead to more people essentially outcasting Fiore even more than they already were because of how much she escalated things. When they reunited at the hospital, she was very apologetic and also revealed she was engaged. While Fio forgave her and even understood things from her point of view, her actions really hurt him and left a terrible taste in his mouth. They both get along fairly well, but are nothing more than co workers as Fio cannot stand being around people who aren’t honest with themselves for too long. She runs into both him and Isaiah many years later when they visit Rome, and she reveals to him that the life she lived was miserable and all she could do was wonder about him after he disappeared. She’s relieved that he’s safe, but obviously catches onto how youthful he and the priest who volunteered at their hospital still were. She offers Fiore a favor. After all, it’s the least she could do. All he asked of her was to never speak of their meeting to anyone, and to live the rest of what little life she has left the way she and nobody else wants.
