Robaato @OROBORO_Z To show you how dirty the comic industry can potentially be: There’s a user on eBay who goes by the name “Mattroplex” who lives in Toronto, Canada. I have many reasons to believe this is Matt Moylan, one of the editors at UDON selling off residual prints of existing books. They’re always listed *brand new* and are consistently recent transactions years after these books were released. (If you notice, they’re out of town until after SDCC is over, which is typical for him.) Comps are usually printed every book; he would typically offer me a stack every book I’ve done but I didn’t care much for that. Meaning they have direct access to the prints: it’s free infinite drug money off the backs of artists like myself, and the buyers are none the wiser. And of course, everything sold is UDON or Capcom related. Unfortunately, Matt has too much of an ego to not have a username that gives him away…😂 [screenshots of ebay listing ranging from $350-900 CAD]
I think AI as a creative tool is, as long as it’s not exploitative and as long as it’s not harming anybody or defaming anybody or telling mistruths, is valuable. If you’re looking for reference material, say, in the old days you get reference images for something. Well, now you can prompt something and get a result. And I don’t have any problem with that.
