The ONLY instructional strategy with a NEGATIVE effect size: Lecturing. -0.26 or 1/2 a year's loss Why? It's passive. There's no room for engagement or interaction necessary for deep understanding & skill development. Just a lot of one person talking. #EduSky #EduCoach

Could you share where you found this info? I'm an instructional coach and always want to include the research during PL. Thanks!

Storytelling is similar to lecturing but can be much more engaging and leads to deep conversations. My classroom memoir shows the power of storytelling in grades 1 through 6. Link in bio

A provocation! Just what we need if it leads to deeper conversations about how to challenge and engage students. (Boring kids is never acceptable and happens in all types of classrooms)
