Severe thunderstorm watch for DC tonight, right at the time of his fight under metal
Sunday will start on a warm and increasingly humid note with a mix of clouds and sunshine. While much of the morning and early afternoon may remain dry, attention will turn to the west as a cold front approaches the region. During the afternoon and especially into the evening hours, thunderstorms are expected to develop and organize across the Mid-Atlantic. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has already placed much of the Washington area under a ‘slight’ risk for severe weather. Conditions appear favorable for some storms to become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts emerging as the primary threat. While the exact timing and coverage will become clearer as the weekend approaches, stay weather alert Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. Frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and localized flooding will also be possible with the strongest storms. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s before storms develop, with noticeably lower humidity arriving behind the front Sunday night.

Donald Trump’s White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, was recently recorded warning CBS News to broadcast a new interview with the president in full and without edits – or “we’ll sue your ass off”. Trump “said, ‘Make sure you guys don’t cut the tape, make sure the interview is out in full,’” Leavitt told CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil after he had interviewed the president, according to an audio exchange first reported on by the New York Times. The 13-minute exclusive segment aired on Tuesday, months after CBS’s parent company Paramount agreed to pay Trump $16m over its editing of an unrelated interview ahead of the 2024 election that vaulted him to a second presidency. “Yeah, we’re doing it, yeah,” Dokoupil assured on the audio. Leavitt could be heard replying: “He said, ‘If it’s not out in full, we’ll sue your ass off.’”

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons dared Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal to follow through on her threat to arrest immigration agents who come to her city and “commit a crime” while appearing on The Big Weekend Show on Fox News on Saturday. Bilal made her brash comments on Thursday, one day after 37-year-old Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Good blocked traffic and appeared to hit the officer with her SUV before she was shot multiple times. The sheriff called ICE “fake, made-up law enforcement” at a press conference and warned “You don’t want this smoke.” She also said her police department would “bring it” against any ICE agents who “commit a crime.”Fox News played a clip of Bilal’s comments on Saturday before contributor Guy Benson asked Lyons for his reaction. The ICE boss was not thrilled. “First off Guy, any time you pit law enforcement officers against law enforcement officers, it makes nobody safe,” Lyons said. He then said the “increased rhetoric” from Bilal and other ICE critics is making it harder for agents to safely do their jobs. “I’m not one for big banter or bluster, buy my message to the sheriff is: try it. Try [and] arrest my folks and see what happens,” Lyons said. Lyons added a moment later that he did not want to step on any announcement from President Donald Trump, but that ICE would “bring more agents [in] to help” with Minneapolis raids.

Hard to describe and will doubtless ruin the humor, but I'll give it a go. This is a 1948 map of hog density in the US. Each black dot represents 5000 hogs. Because the state lines and the US is a white map on a black background, the commenters say things like, "infinite hog supply in the ocean" "each state is lined with an impenetrable wall of swine. We are trapped" and "we've lost Canada and Mexico to the hogs already"

As you may be aware, funding for some government agencies, including portions of the Department of Veterans Affairs, expired at midnight this morning. President Trump opposes a lapse in appropriations, and on September 19, the House of Representatives passed, with the Trump Administration’s support, a clean continuing resolution to fund the government through November 21. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Senate due to unrelated policy demands. During the current lapse in funding, the vast majority of VA benefits and services will continue uninterrupted, but the government shutdown is not without consequences to VA. Here is what you need to know: The following critical Veterans care and assistance programs will be impacted by the government shutdown: VA will not provide Veteran career counseling or transition assistance program activities. The GI Bill Hotline will be closed. VA regional benefits offices will be closed. VA will cease public affairs and outreach to Veterans. VA will not permanently place headstones or maintain the grounds at VA national cemeteries. VA will not process applications for pre-need burials.
