This abrupt withdrawal abandons patients who have relied on NYU's expertise and continuity of care, and it was taken under the pretext of a shifting "regulatory environment" while families and clinicians scramble to find safe alternatives. NYU's action will sever access to puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and other medically necessary treatments that many young people depend on to live.

It's about enforcing cruelty through the power of the state. This proposal would rip medically necessary care away from families and doctors and replace it with fear, punishment, and political control. Let's be honest about what this means: forcing transgender and queer kids to live in distress, denying them care their doctors say they need, and using the law to inflict suffering is a form of state-sanctioned torture. It is the deliberate use of policy to cause pain, shame, and psychological harm to children who are already among the most vulnerable in our society.
