It’s our job to police people according to the law.” That sounds like a fancy way of saying fuck off, in Lamb’s opinion, but she’s smart enough to clock that this isn’t the time or place to point that out. “I want you to pursue whatever leads you see fit,” he continues. “Set up a task force with Walker and Peterson. And take young Holden along as well.”He leans back in his seat, waiting; a silent invitation to air her opinion. “Decent balance. Walker’s calm, Peterson’s storied,” she says. “Holden’s…” Ardent? A pain in the arse? “Enthusiastic. This might be just the thing to burn some of that energy off.” To her surprise, the chief smirks. “Never far behind me, are you?” “That’s my job, sir.” “Didn’t your mother ever tell you, Lamb, that you were so sharp you’d cut yourself one day?” “No, sir.
