Those who already enjoyed reading also read more often and gew in confidence.
Last year, reading enjoyment among children and young people hit a 20-year low. This year, there's an upturn for the first time in five years. Graph compares 2025 (when 32.7% of children enjoyed reading) and 2026 (now at 36.1%).
