On a sofa covered with a cream throw are five columns of square patches in floral patterns - red, cream, grey and purple in colour, for consideration before sewing them all together (they are already sewn in strips of 4 or a few strips of 3). The squares are not aligned across columns but offset by approx half a square in columns 2 and 5 - not only for aesthetic reasons but also because I know my sewing skills and there is no way I will sew them with all seams accurately lined up!

Blue fabric with flowers is covering my lap, with the edge folded over revealing the plain inside. The edge is folded over in a narrow hem, partially seen with the needle (threaded with navy blue thread) mid-stitch and the next section pinned in place.

Storygraph summary of my 2025 reading stats. 497 books. The first book of the year was The Ministry of Unladylike Activity by Robin Stevens and the last was The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet by Lindz McCleod. The longest book was David Copperfield by Charles Dickens (audiobook) and the shortest was the e-short story Desiccated Water by Jodi Tayor. Top genres read were Mystery followed by Classics, Crime, Historical and Fantasy. The top (most-read) authors were Patricia Wentworth, Kerry Greenwood and David Baldacci. Finally, I marked two books as 5-star reads: Sunrise Nights by Jeff Zentner and Brittany Cavallaro, and Gresley and Friends by Grace J Roberts.

A cream dinner plate with small peach colour-flowers and a light brown circle close to the rim (1980’s Woolworths). On the plate is a small pile of mixed salad leaves and four fresh figs cut into quarters. You might think they are sprinkled with white mini-marshmallows, but no, those are goats’ cheese pearls.
