At a press conference today in Memphis, exoneree Artis Whitehead announced the filing of a civil rights lawsuit against the City and at least 10 officers of the Memphis PD. Mr. Whitehead (seen here with his Loevy legal team) spent more than 20 years in prison for a robbery he had nothing to do with.

Mr. Whitehead's lawsuit contends he was framed for a 2002 robbery at BB King's Blues Club. He bore no resemblance to victim descriptions, but was convicted based largely on an "anonymous" tip, which detectives paid a man they'd arrested $900 to make.
