Why does soap clean? Soap is a type of surfactant. Surfactants all have a similar chemical structure and are able to reduce the surface tension of water. They consist of a water-loving (hydrophilic) and a fat-loving (lipophilic) part. When soap is dissolved in water, the water-loving molecular heads align themselves towards the water, and the fat-loving molecular tails bind the grease. The article is an opinion piece masquerading as journalism. While this is typical of these sorts of trashy publications, what concerned me was that they highlighted my research specifically to push their message. Consequently, I feel like I ought to respond.

Measles infects the respiratory tract and then spreads throughout the body. Symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose and a rash all over the body. Most deaths from measles are from complications related to the disease. Complications can include ❗️blindness, encephalitis - an infection causing brain swelling and potentially brain damage, severe diarrhoea and dehydration, ear infections and severe respiratory problems including pneumonia. One very rare, but lethal complication that can arise in measles-infected people is a specific type of encephalitis called subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), which affects one in 100,000 cases. This viral infection ❗️lies dormant in the body for six to eight years before neurological symptoms start❗️. These include loss of motor skills - like the ability to walk, loss of hearing, loss of vision, and brain damage. The disease often progresses to a coma and death. Für COVID-19-Schutzimpfungen gelten die allgemeinen Grundsätze des Rechts der Versorgung von Impfschäden und der Sozialen Entschädigung. Mit Wirkung zum 1. Januar 2024 wurde das Recht der Versorgung von Impfschäden in das SGB XIV überführt. Nach § 24 Satz 1 SGB XIV muss für einen Impfschaden eine gesundheitliche Schädigung vorliegen, die über das übliche Ausmaß einer Reaktion auf eine Schutzimpfung hinausgeht. Für Impfschäden, die im Zusammenhang mit Schutzimpfungen eingetreten sind, die seit dem 1. Januar 2024 insbesondere auf Grundlage der COVID-19-Vorsorgeverordnung vorgenommen wurden oder, im Fall einer Schutzimpfung, gegenüber einer Person, die in der privaten Krankenversicherung versichert ist, in einem dem Anspruch nach COVID-19-Vorsorgeverordnung entsprechenden Umfang vorgenommen wurde, besteht ein Anspruch auf Leistungen der Sozialen Entschädigung (§ 24 SGB XIV). Ein Anspruch besteht auch, wenn die Schutzimpfung von der zuständigen Landesbehörde öffentlich empfohlen und in ihrem Bereich vorgenommen wurde.

High R0, waning immunity and antigenic drift together suggest substantial seasonal circulation with a speculative guess of 20% or 30% of the population infected each year (often referred to as the "attack rate"). This is higher than flu due to R0 of ~6 rather than ~2. 13/17 At endemicity, circulation does not necessarily translate to disease burden. Influenza viruses are more stable at low temperatures and in dry air. It is also assumed that the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract are more susceptible to infection in dry air, and that the immune system is less effective in winter than in summer. Another factor could be that people spend longer periods of time together with other people in poorly ventilated rooms in winter. Ultimately, for a flu epidemic to occur, there must first be a sufficiently large number of susceptible individuals in the population and second (under the conditions mentioned above) a sufficiently large number of infectious individuals who can spread the pathogen to the susceptible population. In Europe, increased influenza activity (flu epidemic) is often reported first in the winter months from southwestern European countries (e.g., Spain, Portugal), followed later by Central and Eastern Europe. Conclusions We demonstrated that college students who have survived COVID-19 infection mostly complain of cognitive impairment, even though most of them have no comorbidities or psychological disorders. However, the good news is that their academic performance was not remarkably affected despite their impaired cognitive function. Our recommendation for future articles is to assess the improvement of cognitive function among COVID-19 survivors.
I am gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran today. This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge – and a direct threat to international peace and security.   There is a growing risk that this conflict could rapidly get out of control – with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world.   I call on Member States to de-escalate and to uphold their obligations under the @UN Charter and other rules of international law.   At this perilous hour, it is critical to avoid a spiral of chaos.   There is no military solution.  The only path forward is diplomacy.  The only hope is peace.
