Today, I want to know how you handle your crits, both successes and failures. I remember charts being used back in the day, but I've also had GMs ask me to describe my epic fail or win.

Depends on the ttrpg. In some systems, they have charts that describe the crit. In other systems, the character or the storyteller/game master describes. I prefer the player/storyteller/GM model as then you can make the crit fit the moment and the character furthering the story.
