I used to work at a second-hand bookshop in Edinburgh (Scotland). Harry was the bookshop cat, a grey Burman. He was a wonderful character. On Saturdays, when the shop was full of browsers, Harry would identify the one cat-hater in the shop, and jump on their shoulders.

I read sometimes an ebook, but never an important one, until my last breath i will cherish my little library, after that it might vanish. When we hear today of KI companies buying lots of books from antiquarians in germany to scan them and afterwards destroy them, i get really sad.

When I lived in Seattle in the late 80s there was a used bookstore with lots of cubbies and cushy chairs and several cats. I was young and poor and at the time pretty depressed and I’d sit in those chairs on rainy days with a book in my hand and a cat on my lap and it made everything better.
