I am more likely to read a fantasy novel with a cover like this than one of the thousands in the genre with two underwear models in armor holding a purple energy ball

i would be more likely to buy something with a more striking abstract cover than one with just the characters standing there like its a marvel movie. it means the artists/writer has a better grasp of the vibe and symbolism of the story. pulpy covers are fun, but as prints, they won't make me read.
Not trying to be mean but this just stands out more against what's currently trending, and is more likely to catch someone's eye
When I think of my favorite book covers, it's pretty much never "a dynamic drawing of the main characters."
