It's not just about greed—it's literally a mechanical impossibility due to how the stock market works. Here is why "paper wealth" is not real cash: 1. The "Market Impact" Trap (Lowering the Value): A company's valuation (like a $1 trillion market cap) is calculated by multiplying the current stock price by the total number of shares. But that price only holds true if a small amount of stock is being traded. If a major founder tries to dump millions of shares at once, the massive influx of supply destroys demand, causing the stock price-and the company's value-to crater while they are trying to sell it. They'd only get a fraction of that paper value. 2. The Panic Ripple Effect: Stock markets run entirely on investor confidence. If the main founder or majority shareholder suddenly pulls out a massive chunk of money, it sends a massive red flag to everyone else. Investors will assume something is catastrophically wrong behind the scenes, panic-sell their own shares, and trigger a massive financial ripple effect that could destroy the company. 3. Taxes and Control: Selling stock triggers massive capital gains taxes (losing a huge chunk right off the bat).
