It was just a goofy bloody silly show that was fun to watch. If you got any paradoxical similarities to Donald Trump or Republicans out of that show then you were searching for it very hard.

KGATLW should be right in my wheelhouse but they just aren’t, saying this as someone whose favourite bands share a lot of fandom overlap (King Crimson, The Mars Volta, Tool, etc). I just feel like their albums are half baked. I kind of liked them before they did that 5 album run in one year, but it kind of made me realise how underwhelming they are to me. Like, they are incredibly talented and I’ll never try to take that away from them. I love when bands explore different sounds and genres. But it’s really hard for me to give them any props for this, because it feels like their process is just “what if we made an album in X genre?” and then they bang it out as fast as humanly possible. To me the end result feels paint by numbers and gimmicky, which isn’t something I should feel when listening to a band that’s always hyped up for its inventiveness. Maybe that’s the appeal for some, but they just feel so cheap to me. I would enjoy them a lot more if they released albums way less frequently and used that time to refine their music.
