Didymus Holmes is a former comedy journalist and arts marketer turned civil servant, but don’t hold that against them. After years spent shining a spotlight on other people’s talents, they finally took the plunge and started sharing their own work, only to discover people seemed to rather like the results.
Fusing left-wing, neurodivergent, queer vibrancy with socio-political frustration and emotional vulnerability, their work filters the world through pop culture references and a dogged determination to make everything rhyme.
They are currently looking for someone to publish their debut collection, Dogface Words — an autobiographical mongrel of identity, grief, loyalty, and the occasional full-throated howl into the void or indignant bark at injustice, all delivered with self-deprecating candour and a cheeky northern turn of phrase.
Traditionally sophisticated? Never. This is punk poetry from a humanoid golden retriever, written straight from the heart and treading that fine line between spoken word and wannabe stadium anthems. Because if there’s one thing Dogface knows, it’s that poetry without rhythm is only going to anger the rhythm. And as Gloria Estefan tried to warn us all, if you anger the rhythm... it is going to get you.
