Chan wakes up in a cage.

That part is normal.

The door is open -- not normal. It makes him uneasy.

Is it a trap? Or a mistake? Either way he isn’t going to chance it; he was put in a cage so he should stay in it until told otherwise.

It’s not his usual cage, which at least has a flat bottom that doesn’t dig into his legs and sides. He’s got pillows in that one. There’s nothing in this one, and the place he’s in smells different too. His knees ache when he shifts around, blinking and taking it in. There’s voices outside but he can’t tell what they’re saying.

It would be a convenient time to attack, but First Order leadership is too fragmented, Poe hopes. Plus, the Resistance has firepower now. Alerts. Comms. Beings. He's already started drinking, to boot.

“There’s gotta be.” Finn pauses. “Do you ever think about...the ones we…” He trails off, not willing to commit to the thought.

“Can’t,” Poe says, definitive. He does, though, has since Finn rescued him and then immediately blew his former allies into spacedust. It was thrilling, heady, to be part of someone’s defection but for Finn’s especially. Maybe there’s a next step, when he can think about the next step.

So Chan just talked through them. All the videos, addressing an invisible imaginary audience. He used to narrate his own vLives and this was just like that but sexier, probably. Easy.

“It hurts,” the Chan on screen whines. “I’m so sensitive.” His hips squirm, the hand on his stomach tightens. “But I think you deserve it, right? Just one more?”

The real Chan sidles away from them to Yeji’s side of the bar and downs his drink in one long swig.

Jeongin’s fangs are so sharp and fast the slash he makes across Chan's wrist is painless, blood bubbling up before the sting hits.

Chan lets out the breath he’s holding, but then Jeongin bites the wound. He can't even shriek, voice dead in his throat as colors blaze behind his tightly shut eyes. The flesh around Jeongin's fangs spasms and throbs, the pain hot red, orange, white.

He’s nauseated with the pain of those teeth, the badwrong feeling of his blood being sucked out of his vein. Jeongin pulls back, mouth smeared red.

His lungs burn with the need to exhale but Minho is still kissing him, it seems a pity to make him stop just because Chan needs to breathe.

He distantly can tell the smoke is curling out of his nose and only then does Minho pull back. He smacks his lips, sticky with the gloss Chan had carefully applied earlier that night, and smirks. No one else in the smoking circle says a word.

In fact, Felix silently passes the joint back to Minho when Minho gestures for it. Minho holds the filtered tip to Chan's mouth and he dutifully inhales. He feels electrified, feels something he can't fully grasp yet.

“I hate the ocean.” Minho says it casually

“What? Baby, why didn't you tell me when I suggested this?” Chan had specifically asked if Minho was okay with the beach.

He shrugged. “I figured I could work on my tan and watch my big beautiful boyfriend do something he loves.”

“Noooo,” Chan laughs, covering his face in his haha and wagging his tail. When he moves his hands Minho is staring at him like he's crazy.

He confirms this by saying, “You're crazy, you know?” Somehow he adds a smile to the expression -- fond and awed and confused at once.

“I'm shy!”

“My beautiful, award winning, porn star boyfriend is shy,” Minho says and kisses him on the cheek, clinging to Chan as he laughs.

“No way,” Chan says, “I'm having fun just hanging out. I’m just sorry I haven’t had time to hang out with JayB and the rest of your team.”

“Why, you’re already hanging out with me so you’re already getting the best part.” BamBam laughs. “I’m surprised you’re not making your girls do extra practices.”

When Chan doesn’t answer, BamBam slaps his hand on the table. “I knew it!”

“It was just once!” Chan says defensively. “I think sports are more fun when you have a grasp of the basics!”

“Yeah, yeah. JayB keeps trying it but we keep distracting him. We intentionally picked the league that wasn’t serious.”

“I'm not very good at not serious,” Chan says, because it's true

“Ugh, are we talking around something? I might need another drink.”

Chan bites her lip. “Maybe.”

BamBam looks at her over his sunglasses.

“Is she a bitch?” When Chan doesn't answer right away he arches an eyebrow for good measure.

“I think she wakes up every day and consciously chooses not to be. But she thinks she's a bitch.” Chan says it with a dreamy smile on her face.
