Owl Nebula is a planetary nebula with multiple shells that give it an owlish appearance-- an outer sphere and an inner torus-like structure. The Surfboard Galaxy is a jumbled ness of star forming patches and evidence of past interactions with the Universe's interstellar tides.
Waxing moon -- we had a stormy day (with lightning and thunder!) so this is one I took about a month ago.

NGC 7023 also known as the iris nebula. It has a bright blue center surrounded by wispy grey dust, in a background of starry space.

A fabulous nebula caused by a star collapsing into a white dwarf. The star was very similar to our sun, so maybe one day, our sun will produce something like this. An eye-shaped gas cloud where the iris is blue and the outer area is red.

NGC 2264 contains an immense nebula with a middle that resembles a Christmas tree decorated with ornament balls. The tree is beautifully framed by a rosy exterior nebula.

A bright knot of hundreds of stars. However, the stars aren't so densely packed that you can't see through the gaps, implying that they are more loosely bound by gravity than other types of star clusters. Hence, the designation "open star cluster".

A bluish bubble of extremely hot gas (the nebula) is surrounded by reddish hot gas. The red gas was pre-existing and is heating up the side of the bubble close to it, causing it to glow more brightly on that side. The other side of the bubble is cooler allowing that side to travel farther, making the bubble a tad distorted.
