The image depicts two “balls” of chromatin; one closed (blue) representing a luminal breast cancer cell and one more open (red) representing a basal-like breast cancer cell. The balls are separated by a Waddington-like epigenetic landscape “hill”. The LATS1 tumor suppressor fortifies the “hill” by associating with NCOR1 nuclear corepressor to close the chromatin of basal-like genes.
