Thank you, important context. The part that’s new to me is the allegation they sell the recordings to advertisers? I wouldn’t be shocked by them selling the metadata or transcripts, though I’d almost think they’d want to horde that since they sell targeted ad space. Is that part true?
By default, you can access the recent audio logs of all the times the voice assistant has triggered and started sending audio to Google. In none of the cases did Google hide recordings from showing up in these logs. support.google.com/accounts/ans...
The problem is that the microphone is always on so it can pick up the trigger word. It is always listening and there is no way to turn it off. You can not use it but it's always there listening. It may not be recording now but it would be easy to do and it could be doing it now.
