Thank you for informing me of your concerns regarding cuts to federal spending and reforms to the federal bureaucracy. While I understand your concerns, we must respectfully disagree. President Trump was sworn into office with a clear mandate to bring back an economic environment that works for the American people. This includes addressing our out-of-control national debt. That is why President Trump signed an executive order entitled “Establishing and Implementing the President’s ‘Department of Government Efficiency’” (DOGE) on his first day in office. This directive, which importantly included a specific requirement for DOGE to follow data protection standards, represented a much-needed first step to refocus and right size the federal bureaucracy on initiatives and programs that further American interests by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse while maximizing the productivity of public servants. Below are just a few examples of waste found by DOGE in its review of federal spending: · Over $1 billion to fund 104 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) contracts across 30 federal agencies. · $330 million to help farmers in Afghanistan grow opium to subsidize the Taliban. · Millions of dollars to various media outlets. · $45 million in wasteful consulting contracts focused on topics like “executive coaching” or “climate support services.” · As much as $44.6 million in underutilized leases. · $15 million for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Serbia. · $10 million to feed al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria through the United States Agency for International Development. · Over $446,000 to advance atheism in Nepal. · Thousands of dollars to fund transgender operas, transgender comic books, and “DEI musicals” in various foreign countries. These findings clearly demonstrate the need for a full review of the federal government’s spending activities. The American people deserve a government that is accountable to them and spends taxpayer funds wisely.
