Thank you for writing to express your opposition to the Draft Code of Practice for service providers, which was laid before Parliament last month. In the past year, I have met with trans constituents and advocacy groups to inform my work as a Parliamentary supporter of trans rights. I would like to clarify my opposition to the Code of Practice and outline what I am doing in Parliament to support trans inclusivity. The Draft Code of Practice laid before Parliament last month, follows on from the ECHR Draft Code which was in turn proposed following last year’s Supreme Court ruling that the status of ‘woman’ in equalities law, applies exclusively to ‘biological women’. This is an analysis of gender which the British Medical Association considers ‘medically illiterate’, and overly reductive to a person’s sex as identified at birth. The Draft Guidance, will effectively exclude trans people from ‘single sex spaces’. The Guidance recognises that most trans people would not feel safe using services corresponding to their sex assigned at birth, yet the Guidance prohibits letting trans people use the services that are safest and most appropriate for them. The Guidance suggests service providers offering gender neutral facilities, but in practice, these facilities will often not be available. The consequences of this Guidance will go far beyond bathrooms and changing facilities. By strictly redefining the parameters of single sex services, the Guidance comprehensively bans single-sex services from including trans or non-binary people if their sex assigned at birth differs from the category of the service. This is made explicit in Section 13.131-13.132 of the Guidance. In practice, this means that trans people who for years have attended groups, services and facilities that identify with their gender, will no longer be able to continue doing so.

Raspberry Pi 3B+ vs 4B energy usage The Raspberry Pi 4B is significantly more energy-efficient than the Raspberry Pi 3B+. The 4B model consumes around 3 to 4 watts when idle, with an increase of 0.5 watts for each core that is busy, up to a maximum of 6 watts when all four cores are working. In contrast, the Raspberry Pi 3B+ consumes around 1.15 watts when idle, potentially even less. This makes the 4B a better choice for energy-conscious projects.
