That is... depressing. 😟 I was called "mulatto" for half of my life & not only is it incorrect but it was also an outdated colloquial term then! 💢 What the hell... What is even being taught any more? I am... deeply concerned about education all around... 💔 ...Hoping life will teach better. 🌱💖✨
a lot of frustrating discourse has gotten me to avoid taking the idea that a term is 'dated' at face value but it's weird how these blanket terms being foisted onto certain groups of people ends up feeling somehow 'progressive' to a lot of people because these terms are/appear more endemic
This isn't even the correct description of the term. Street Queen was primarily used by poor trans people who lived on the streets and had to hustle for a living. Its a play off of the old term 'street people' which was a blanket statement for gays on the street who hustled for a living.
cis people including cis gays were not willing to accept trans women as women. some drag queens may identify as trans, but conflating the two as the same is the oldest transmisogyny in the book. this entire 'field' seems rather poisoned to me if this is truly that normalized
