For interpretive context, I'm reading this as someone's automated email assistant going off the rails. And/or a purposeful experiment in trying to make their assistant behave sentient. The email came via a founder of an AI automation company, so this seems like a sensible reading of the situation.
That's interesting! As AI agents get more complex and widespread, this is probably going to happen more. On the plus side, maybe less meetings, as people get used to letting their AI agents email each other? I fear the future of online communication is going to get weirder before it gets better.
