Leaflet text: PAVEMENT PARKING BAN / 20MPH SPEED LIMITS THE council now has powers to enforce bans on pavement parking, double parking and parking at dropped kerbs. Offenders can be fined Β£100. The new law also gives councils the power to exempt streets from the ban, but very few have been selected in Campsie and the villages. The same applies to the Council's plan to change the speed limits in Lennoxtown, Milton of Campsie, Torrance and Balmore from 30mph to 20mph, with almost all local roads coming into this category. The measures are well intentioned but we hope they do not create as many problems as they are intended to solve. Let us know what you think.
Extracted text from a Facebook post: In case EDC (East Dunbartonshire Council) had missed the memo, the Divine Right of a King to rule however he wishes was abolished centuries ago with the Bill of Rights. (Incidentally, the Bill of Rights also banned cruel and unusual punishment, and forcing people to drive at 20 MPH on a main road is definitely a cruel and unusual punishment!).

Since all these 20mph signs ive been taking my son to kirky loads and ive been behind so so many cars who not only now do 18 on the 20mph but then flipping 24on the 30 and 30 on the 40mph. What the hell is going on I respond: You are annoyed that people are driving under the speed limit!? You do realise that this is exactly how speed limits are supposed to work? It's a limit not a target!
