I should have stopped doing the Map Center last summer when I saw that the numbers were never gonna work out. But then a customer sends me this photo of his kiddo using a map I printed for them as they search for a hidden swamp.

The hidden swamp??? You mean you had a map that whole time?

We lost one of our last brick and mortar map stores here in Alberta, Canada last year. They shifted online only. Granted I didn't get in there as often as I wanted, but when I did a purchase of something I didn't know I wanted always resulted.

I'm gutted to read this...as an avid browser/buyer in old book stores and who looks for old maps this saddens me...if I lived nearer, I'd be round buying.

I was in a small business incubator last summer and we learned how to do sales projections and business plans and my numbers were.... not great. And I told them that. And they were all "noooo don't trust the numbers we taught you to generate! Follow your dreams!" Numbers are real, gang.

Awwwww. . . . Have you considered partnering with @mychal3ts.bsky.social (the fabulous librarian now doing Reading Rainbow)? Maybe some videos for kids about cool map stuff? Maybe this kiddo could do a guest appearance?
