It appears probable that these islets were an early sighting of Fanning Atoll (Tabuaeran), 10 degrees farther west. This group of 'low and wooded coral islands' at 3°48'N, 159°15'W had been sighted by Captain Andreas Walther of the America, in 1814 as well. Was this Purdy's elusive Captain Walker?
