In an otherwise 3D cutscene with a simple environment and 3D characters, this dog is a static 2D image, apparently a tribute to a dev's dog before it passed away. The absurdity of a 2D dog in an otherwise 2D scene garnered meme status when the image first circulated upon the game's release.

In what appears to be a large facility with pipes and guardrails in the distance, a tense standoff takes place. A fancily-dressed masked man, Bleublanc, looks across the room towards a teenage boy who stands at the ready, blade drawn, protecting a girl behind him. The boy is consumed by an otherworldly aura, his hair unnaturally ash white. Bleublanc: Could this be your ogre power?
Bowser stands out among Mario's party, planted firmly in the Mushroom Kingdom's castle throne room. The chancellor tilts his head to the side: WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? Overlayed commentary: Nobody notices that Bowser is in the room until he literally steps outside of Mario's player avatar. Messing with typical RPG tropes like that is great.
An early game battle: Mario against two "Sky Troopas" (they're Koopa Paratroopas, but the localization is very weird and inconsistent with names...). It features the command menu broken down into menus for each button, with Special moves mapped to Y. With that button pressed, Special moves like Jump are accessible.
A vertical platforming section on spiraling floating vines. With no ground to use as reference, it's hard to tell where Mario is in space, but it's best to treat this area as being 2D, shown from a 45 degree angle. Overlayed commentary: This area is thankfully simple and brief. They must have known the lack of drop shadows made it a depth perception nightmare.
Booster and Princess Toadstoole at the altar of a church. The princess is bawling her eyes out, as Booster looks at her with his typical manic look on his face. "What's this...? Water...coming from your eyes?! Are you leaking, my dear?!" Overlayed commentary: I just don't get what they're going for. Does he not know what tears are? He needed an explanation for what a "party" is.

Screenshot of the Paradigm deck. The three characters have various roles assigned to them, with each role given a unique name to describe it. The names help to remember the purpose of the paradigm in the thick of battle, such as Bully being comprised of Commando, Saboteur and Synergist. You can imagine hammering away at the enemy as you weaken them while empowering yourself.

Wild chocobos are almost unheard of on Cocoon, but thats to the antics of a certain TV program's feathery main character, owning chocobo chicks has become the latest fad among children. Although the tiny chicks are easy to handle when young, their rapid growth as they approach adulthood has forced an increasing number of families to donate their oversized avian pets to zoos and farms.

Heather looks directly at the player, contempt and disgust on her face. "Who would even think of doing something so disgusting?" It's a very rare fourth-wall break moment.
In a dark dilapidated building, Heather shines her light on a makeshift table made out of a box and a few planks of wood. Empty cans and bottles are haphazardly strewn about, and they cast a long shadow onto the concrete tile behind them. A dirty old mattress and a garish hole in the ground can be seen too, but most of the room is obscured by darkness. It looks like nobody has been here in a very long time.
In 5072 BR, it was discovered that Opur had faked his death with the clever use of a lifelike hologram. Despite reports to the contrary, Opur was alive and well. He was known thenceforth as the Desiccated Devil.

A screenshot comparison of Silent Hill [1999] and Silent Hill 2 [2001], showcasing just how much more detail the character models and environment textures have in the sequel. In the Silent Hill screenshot, Harry stands in an foggy outdoor patio looking at the sign for a restaurant named Konami Burger. In the Silent Hill 2 screenshot, James stands in a dimly-lit reading room, inspecting a book. "I've already read enough medical books. None of them ever did any good." Aside from the models and textures, SH2 features a noise filter overlayed which darkens the screen and makes things look fuzzier, making it harder to make out details in the dark.

Cool Devs #007: Garrick Burford. Raising a pair of goggles up over his beanie, he looks proudly to the viewer as he casually points to a model rocket blasting off into the sky.
A mysterious man, slim build, rolled up sleeves, short hair, shrouded in darkness, walks into the distance. "There he is...!" The man's head slightly turns to face whoever is behind him. "The Best Pool Player In the Entire World..." Finally he turns to face me, and I stare in shock at him for some unknown reason. I'm actually watching myself and the man in a scene that plays out on a screen, outside of the drama entirely, and I'm grasping at my desk in frustration. I still can't see the man's face because the camera is behind his back. "Why won't they show his face??!"
