it's just so cool how all advice on how to make friends is utterly useless. every single time it boils down to "go out and make friends" because every single person who tries to give advice is doing so with this implied bare minimum this assumed default level of compentancy that i do not have. and it is so frustrating how do you "go out" if you've never gone out before how do you "go out" if you have no idea where to go how do you "go out" if you don't drink how do you "go out" if all of your hobbies are solitary how do you "make friends" when you can't talk to people how do you "make friends" when every single time you've ever tried before has ended in failure how do you "make friends" period? and then they always go "do X thing enough and your bound to make friends" and like. no???? i have done so many things like this. marching band or multiple choirs during hs. going to college. having multiple jobs. it doesn't work. every time i've done a thing where i'm told i'll make friends i leave just as alone as before.

The drive home, worsened by a road closure, is always the worst part of the day. On this particular afternoon, however, I glanced up, looked towards the horizon, and thought "oh, the clouds are pretty." Then an inflection point. A red light. But for how long? It would be a dangerously brief amount of time. But clouds by nature are ephemeral. They might not, no, they would not look the same at the conclusion of my journey. It was now, or it was never. Scrambling, I pulled the phone from the cupholder it was placed, panicked as I swiped once, twice, thrice to open the camera. But the light changes, it's green light beckoning us all. Others heeded the call, slowly igniting their engines, beginning their surge ahead. I didn't look, didn't wait, snapped a photo, hoping, praying it'd turn out alright. and, uh, it did, i guess.
