Hygiene concerns: Clothes will trap sweat and dead skin cells against your body. Attempting to wash yourself while wearing layers makes it difficult for soap and water to reach your skin.
Fabric damage: Soaking certain fabrics—especially wool, silk, or anything dry-clean only—can cause severe shrinkage, stretching, or permanent distortion.
Heavy and restricting: Wet clothes become incredibly heavy and clingy, which can feel restricting or claustrophobic to some.
A Better Alternative
If you are trying to soften stiff clothing or break in items, it is much more effective to soak them gently in a basin or tub. This allows you to wash and rinse the fabric independently using
Laundry Detergent
