 I think people assume that I just make whatever, just post whatever, and there's not a lot of thought behind it. And there is so much thought and care and planning behind what I do. And I just don't think that people realize that. And so when they do see a video and they don't like it I think it makes them really easy to just say something. And again, not the criticism part, but like the, the talking about my pores being too big. That kind of mean aspect to it because they don't realize that so much thought and heart went into every single video
I had a gig in Montana the night before. It took four planes to get there. I got to LaGuardia at 6 p.m. and raced over to Shea. I was in the upper deck with my brother-in-law. I remember [it was like] the World Series was over [with two outs in the 10th], and then everybody's jumping up and down, and you're a little confused. You were halfway into mourning already. We left the stadium in silence, got in the parking lot and couldn't get out of the lot. I said, "Just turn the car off, I don't want to leave anyway." We sat in the parking lot listening to the radio and let the parking lot empty out, just in shock.

You're also a mom. Let me give you a hypothetical that may or may not have happened. Your 11-year-old son (named Mark) is watching Game 6 of the 1986 NLCS vs the Astros. But in the middle of the game, it's time for him to go to Hebrew School. He calls you and says he doesn't want to go. Do you make him go to Hebrew School or let him stay home and watch the game? I don't know what I would be like as a mom in the 1980s. Current me, though, would let my son miss Hebrew school. It's one day, right? (editor’s note: EXACTLY!)

Nick Martinez accepted the $21 million qualifying offer from the Reds after coming off a career-best season in 2024. His ERA jumped from 3.10 to 4.45 in 2025. One potential culprit: His chase rate dropped by 7.5 percentage points, the biggest dip for any pitcher that threw at least 80 innings in both 2024 and 2025. Martinez wasn’t missing bats much to begin with. With fewer chases also came more walks, fewer strikeouts, and more home runs allowed. His chase rate dropped by 7 percentage points on his four-seam fastball (which got clobbered in 2025) and 14 percentage points on his changeup (his primary secondary pitch). He’s probably not going to get a lucrative deal this offseason With chart showing decline in K per 9 from 2024 to 2025 (7.3 to 6.3), increase in walks per 9 (1.1 to 2.3) and HR per 9 (0.8 to 1.2), and increase in ERA (3.10 to 4.45
 I think journalism is a calling and you have to know that, you're going to. Miss birthdays and you're gonna miss holidays, and it's not always easy, but there is a pang in your gut that this is what you're doing. This is you. You are doing this for a reason. You have to do this. You can't stop doing this. You go out every day and you're pursuing the facts and there's nothing else you'd rather be doing.
