Andrew Stacey @mathforge.org · Mar 4 Here's a different version. In this, I've taken a chunk out of the blue rectangle equal to the red rectangle. With this design then the blue shape tessellates perfectly with the parallelogram tessellation.

Ohhhhh. The tessellation proves they gave the same area because the two different shapes have the same number of each in the same space.
