I made a dumb joke about Detroit pizza on threads and like 250 people showed up to be mad at me.

Threads is weirdly aggressive. Seems to really push conflict, specifically. Any kind.

You're right about the pizza. Wrong to use Threads.

In fairness we went after you for the Detroit pizza hate here too.

Your all time worst take, be thankful we were this easy on you

I mean you shouldn't be cursed out for it but it's still an awful take, lol. Don't know what school you went to to get pizza that thick

Native Detroiter here*, who was confused when I started reading about Detroit-style pizza, until I figured out they were talking about Buddy’s/pan pizza. It was originally made in pans used for parts in auto assembly plants, in a pizzeria in a blue collar part of Detroit, & is the kind of thing…

Yeah, but that's shooting fish in a barrel. I bet you'd get even more if you said that Chicago pizza is just hotdish with a crust.

Honestly, people may disagree, but your take wasn't wrong. In fact, you were being nice. Your mistake was posting on Threads, of course.

As a lifetime resident of the Detroit metro area, I could have told you this was a big mistake.

forget it max, it's threads

As someone who likes both Detroit and cafeteria pizza, I will stand up for you.

I want it on record I stood valiantly alongside you Max. Detroit pizza is mid at best. The joke was hilarious.

Buddys Pizza.Fight me.

That’s all that happens in Threads. It’s the social media equivalent of the 3 month old copy of People magazine you see in the doctor’s office.

I grew up in Madison. We had a chain of knock off Detroit style pizza whose late spokesman was an Italian Stereotype based on an late 60's sketch comedy bit. I miss the taste but not enough to ever eat there when I go back.

This is intended as a compliment.

You deserved it.

It’s just Sicilian nonna pizza.
