A Note on Sidebars Sidebars are like a footnote, always last in the right hand column on the right hand page. The Sidebar title is defined in document as “Heading 3”, Lobster 12pt Sidebar text is Lexend Light 10pt. It seems small in this application but instead of moving to 11pt, I’ve changed the line spacing from 1.15 to 1.25. The sidebar is offset from “regular” text with a double line break at top, indented text (.3L, .2R), and the box — Borders and Shading from the top of the Format → Paragraph Styles dropdown. The options on drawing the borders included a (selectable, 6pt) buffer between paragraph text and box. Sidebar intent is to convey an “author’s note” in a more casual voice outside of text. Sidebars are as long as they need to be, but if they take up more than a full column of text, we should think of a different way to convey the same information.

Formatting Notes in Google Docs. I started picking fonts and defining headings in the Google Itself. Screenshot above, Text follows: Section Title Section Titles are Lexend Extra Bold san serif 16pt Ideally, there is a single main heading on the left hand page. Body text is Spectral Normal serif 10pt. Heading One Sample text of the defined Heading One, Roboto Bold serif 10pt, demonstrated above. Other defined Headings • Heading Two is for Tables, san serif Lexend Medium 12pt. • Heading Three is for Sidebars, Lobster 12pt. • Heading One and Heading Three include extra padding between lines (1.5), while Heading Two is the standard line spacing, 1.15, and meant to align with the rest of the body text. Body Text and other Fonts • Body text is Spectral Normal serif 10pt. • Monospaced font, as implemented, is Source Code Pro. We’re using the monospaced san serif in tables. • Sidebars use san serif Lexend Light. Could be 10pt to match the rest of the body text but the slightly larger 11pt text “looks” better. Breaks On a page with a Section Title, the second column text will include a ghost heading [blank, but same Lexend Extra Bold font at 16pt] to keep the Main Heading separate at the top of the page. Line breaks are soft separations; typical body text would not include breaks between paragraphs. Ideally, we’d have a break that would also merit a sub-head. That said, I’ve been using line breaks between paragraphs in this sample text. As much as possible, widows and orphans should be avoided. Text can be reworded if there’s a need, to get the column text to align Lists • Bulleted lists use alt-0149 •, the medium bullet • We’ll have to fight with Google Docs to keep it from auto formatting and indenting the bullets • But only at the start of a list. And when editing a list that’s already been typed in (say, with . dots), pasting the bullet at the start of each line doesn’t trigger Google Docs auto formatting

4 posts/replies in a much longer thread by ‪Sophie ➡️ LGF (New Game Plus, 16th)‬ ‪@sophies.games‬ from 2 April 2026 https://bsky.app/profile/sophies.games/post/3mikrzi627e2c I contend that LLMs are useful for code because in its training set there's many many examples of people going "here's some code that does X" followed by code that does X, relating the pattern of tokens in the description of the code to the pattern of tokens in the code itself. so when you ask an LLM "I need code that does X", it can relate that to code that does X and produce that code. and obviously its training set is full of all sorts of programming problems, people discussing code, fixing bugs together, etc. this is not the same process we use for coding - understanding and applying computer logic from first principles - but the constraints of computers means there's only so many problems, so if you train an LLM on enough solutions, you can get decent (though still inconsistent/imperfect) results. so to bring it to medicine: to my knowledge, there is not a dataset of layperson descriptions of their symptoms, or people talking to their doctors, next to the final diagnosis, that is nearly as large or varied as the comparable dataset that exists for programming.

Text: I've pointed out in the past that even if an impeachment wouldn't go anywhere or do anything, there's absolutely nothing stopping Dems from drafting articles of impeachment anyway. Post 'em to a website, with daily updates. Keep an effin' record. It feels like the absolute minimum they could do. And not just the "most likely" to pass or what is "possible" - Just list every crime (starting with like five pages of how he's brazenly ignored the emoluments clause). Put some grad students on it. Hire an extra intern. 200+ Dems, not counting Senators, each with their own staff. Pull one person from each office. Make it a contest. Make it a damn wiki page and have 'em see who can rack up the most contributions and edits. "Let Facts be submitted to a candid world" to coin a phrase.

This capy is on a broad lawn with water (a lake or river) in the background, and past the water on the far shore, what looks like some city housing. The lawn is well maintained, and short, but our capy friend still finds something worth snooting about for as they stand and graze. There are no context clues as to size but our friend looks large for a capy, with a thick, long coat of red brown hair that is particularly long just under their snout and along their neck, a beard of sorts that would make a ZZ Top guitarist or bassist proud. I don't think I've seen anything like it before. If nothing else, taking the time to appreciate this capybara and type out the alt text has been very relaxing, thank you for joining me here.

The baby capys are lined up like little troopers and all looking out the same direction (toward the water, presumably, which is off frame and not pictured). Little dudes seem _tiny_, they must be really young, but there's literally nothing for scale in the image so who knows.
the plaid is LL Bean's "Blue MacKellar" in a Tall size so the shirt tails hang much longer than a normal fit -- I like the coverage & the look & I'm a big guy, it takes more flannel to cover all this. under the Bean flannel shirt is a black tee and indigo Wrangler jeans. Don't let the menswear guy see this he'll call me out for wearing a tent instead of a shirt.
