A quotation in black says "In 2006 mefloquine was found to be neurotoxic, causing permanent lesions in parts of the brain linked to its well-documented neuropsychiatric side effects. More recently the drug was found to be a cause of chronic CNS toxicity syndrome characterised by a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders, many of which are listed by the manufacturer as "common" side effects, symptomatic of lasting or permanent injury in parts of the brain particularly the brainstem and limbic system." Infographic: Most mefloquine users were only told about a few possible side effects like dreams, anxiety, and dizziness. At the very least, anyone using mefloquine should have been told, (highlighted quote) "If you experience any side effects, immediately cease use!" (bold) NOT Speech bubbles saying "Suck it up, soldier." "Most people tolerate the drug very well" "It's probably just travel stress." "The alternatives are much more expensive." Bottom note: At Mefaction we do not believe this drug should have been given to anyone whose side effects could be confused with reactions to their situation.
