holdoncallfailed auratili 2 HOURS AGO (Edited) A big problem is that fanfic has different story beats than traditional fiction. It can skip worldbuilding (because the world is someone else's) and jumps from big moment to big moment with little to nothing inbetween. These barely disguised published fics often do the same thing, turning into the equivalent of a literary tiktok. Jump cuts to just the best parts of a story without anything to earn it in between. They feel like stories, but they don't feel like books.
