It's thought-provoking, sad, disturbing, shocking, funny. The way the author was treated by the government, DWP, Atos and by many of the people she encountered on her journey is disgusting. It gives an intriging insight into how people on benefits are treated, how the disabled and long-term sick are treated, and how women in the adult industry are treated. An autistic person should never have been put in this situation. You'll never think about strippers and porn actors in the same way again. This book is highly recommended. 5.0 out of 5 stars. The writer explains so many reasons that women turn to this sort of life, and the problems they are likely to encounter. It tackles tough issues, and challenges any misconceptions the reader may have about the industry. All credit to the writers skill, bravery and intelligence for writing this book and surviving in such difficult circumstances. Also 'high five' for turning her life around so magnificently! A fascinating, inspiring and thought provoking book. ..... No written review for the three star one, which I glad about cos, let's face it, it's too late to change anything so what's the point of a critique? Also, the book isn't part of a series, it's a one-off. It is what it is and it is how it will remain.

Text - I'm making the finishing touches to the book before publication in (I hope) June. I've written a glossary at the beginning for the benefit of non-British readers. I have just added this for our PM - Keir Starmer – our current (Labour) Prime Minister, kid starver, disabled harmer, pensioner killer, class traitor, poor hater, I’m-all-right-Jack-pull-the-ladder-up rich boy tosser. Say what you really mean, Evangeline 😂 (Incidentally, when Thatcher died and her mug was on the cover of our newspaper I got a red marker pen an altered it in the same way I have done with this photo. How I describe depression in the book. "It’s like a cloak: a thick, heavy, smothering dark cloak. When the deeper depressive episodes hit you, the cloak has leapt up and swathed you tightly and suffocating-ly. Its massive weight presses down on every part of you: on your physical being and your mind. You must try to get through your days hauling and dragging it around with you as it tries to force you to collapse. It’s bone-breaking and so very, very wearying. It sucks the life out of you, the energy, the will to carry on, and sometimes the ability to feel anything. There are other times when the cloak merely sits loosely on your shoulders, still very much making its presence felt but not crushing you. Then there are the better times when the cloak briefly slips off, but it doesn’t go away. It stalks you. It tiptoes along behind you, sniggering, waiting to pounce again when you least expect it. I remember an episode of the Warner Bros. cartoon Bugs Bunny in which Bugsy is creeping around a haunted castle being followed by a cloak that has come to life. It sneaks along behind him and when Bugs turns round it flings itself against the wall and pretends it’s hanging up. That’s sort of how I picture the Cloak of Depression behaving, only without the amusement. I have suffered depression since I was nine years old, probably younger, and I believe that when it has hold of you that tightly you can never truly be rid of it. All you can hope for is that you can keep it at bay, to keep it creeping along behind you but not on you." The cloak is upon me now.
