Now that someone from within the Supreme Court leaked a draft opinion in which five conservative zealots will finally get to live out their career-long dreams of ending Roe v. Wade, it is clear to me that the Democratic Party, as an institution, does not care more about keeping my doctors and nurses out of jail than Republicans do about putting them there. If they did, they would not throw up their hands and say that there’s nothing they can do to protect women. They would not ask us for donations or votes in November to expand the power voters already gave them in 2020 by handing them the White House, Senate, and House. It’s insulting to women, to voters, to people who believe in truly representative democracy to ask us to support them again when they have not proven willing to do everything in their power to prevent this outcome, even at the risk of failure, or even to imbue urgency around this outcome. At two consecutive national conventions, in 2016 and 2020, Democrats gave short shrift to the matter of the Supreme Court (Hillary Clinton’s 2016 keynote mentions the high court only in the context of voting rights and Citizens United; the 2020 convention famously ignored the Supreme Court entirely). This is all despite the fact that Republicans were already in the process of stealing a Supreme Court seat in 2016, and in 2020, Roe was locked in the sights of Republicans who have been fighting decades to reach this day.

Professor shiner is an excellent teacher and her experience really shows in her teaching style she's so sweet and wants us to learn Prof. Shiner was very open to constructive feedback and making adjustments whenever necessary. She was also very vocal about her office hours availability. Meredith is a very approachable and caring professor. I highly recommend this class if you want to get practical experience drafting a communications plan for a client. Meredith was great at communicating expectations even with the difficulty students faced with the client we had. Overall, I had to dig deep to perform well in this class.

Professor Shiner was the best professor I've had so far at Harris. She was very understanding of what we were all going through and encouraged us to take time for ourselves and communicate with her if anything were to arise. I had a tough week when the violence was occurring in our community and I was able to reach out to professor Shiner with no issues. She was very supportive of me and offered to provide an extension for my assignment if I were to need it. I felt very valued in this course and you can tell how much Professor Shiner cares about us as students. 100% for all. Completely so to all 3 Discussion was always valued, and I feel like Meredith made the extra effort to encourage opinion sharing and feedback. I loved the diversity of the presenters and think their perspectives added a lot of value to the course overall. Very much! Quite. I felt very valued as a participant in the course. please see the below statement, attributable to Christopher Parente, attorney for Brian Straw: "These transcripts prove that the grand jury in the Broadview 6 case repeatedly attempted to say 'no' to this sham political indictment. The Department of Justice attorneys involved in this case refused to accept that reality or their Constitutional obligations, committing appalling misconduct and putting their DOJ marching orders above justice. The members of the Broadview 6 were exercising their protected First Amendment right of assembly and dared to stand up to the Trump Administration's abuse of our community members. For that, they were punished with the full weight of the federal government. More disturbing, these transcripts demonstrate Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's public claims that the vindictive political indictments secured by his DOJ are meritorious because they come from grand juries are disingenuous at best, given the gross misconduct detailed here. This DOJ has violated the good faith foundation of the grand jury process to weaponize indictments and subvert the law."
