This week, Methodists from around the Connexion are preparing to gather in Telford for The Methodist Conference, the governing body of the Methodist Church under God which meets annually to discuss matters affecting the life of the Church, the nation and the world.

This meeting is one with a history which goes back continuously to 1744. The Conference first met under John Wesley, who gathered together his assistants (both ordained ministers and lay preachers) to confer together about what to teach, how to teach, and what to do.
