This close up image shows the exterior of a building in Miami, FL financial district. The kinetic facade at 830 Brickell caught my eye when wind caused movement of the small aluminum squares. This section of the building contains the eight-story parking garage. Coloring is light gray, medium gray and dark gray. Near the top of the image, one sees vertical lines appearing as light gray or silver and black lines creating a visual contrast. Kinetic architecture refers to buildings designed to allow parts of the structure to move without compromising overall structural integrity. This capability for motion can enhance aesthetic qualities, respond to environmental conditions, or perform functions that static structures cannot.

I share it to reflect sadness in the loss of Michael Tilson Thomas. He was a beloved American conductor, composer and pianist.

The photo for West Marin features the end of day at Stinson Beach with a view to Bolinas in the background. The sky is hazy gray; the small blue and white Pacific Ocean waves are moving gently to the shoreline. The sandy beach in the foreground still has plenty of people enjoying their day. West Marin homes tend to be held for many more years than the national average. Some homes take several decades to reach the market if they ever sell. This photo I took at the beach on Hilton Head Island presents a calm day with gentle waves rolling onto the shoreline. The foreground shows a thin lay of water over ripples in the sand which appears slightly greenish-brown. The blue sky has ample clouds near and far to the horizon. Most clouds are white but some are medium blue-gray. A couple of people can barely be seen walking on the beach on the left side near the horizon line.
Bob Weir, dressed in a blue shirt and blue jeans is on the right, singing passionately into the microphone while playing guitar. Phil Lesh, wearing a long sleeve blue shirt, is on the left playing bass guitar. Scaffolding is vertical with red lighting equipment above and behind them. This concert was bittersweet. Here is Bob Weir playing guitar with the Grateful Dead on November 3, 1991 in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. The view is from below the stage looking up. Black fabric is draped from the stage. Equipment is visible along with lighting above and behind Bob. In the background, trees mostly cover the blue sky. This was the Bill Graham Memorial Concert to celebrate his magnificent life plus others who died with him in a helicopter crash.
The night time city view displays the abundantly lit buildings, smoky sky and awesome fireworks to celebrate wishes for a Happy New Year.
A koi pond snapped on my phone is filled with color, reflection and movement. The fish are red, orange, golden, white and multi colored. The water reflects green trees above and a hint of blue sky. The image has a painterly quality.
The East Bay market report for November home sales features a bright blue-sky day with few clouds. The foreground focuses on the boating lifestyle of the San Francisco Bay. The marina looks full. The bay is dark turquoise with the glare of sunshine on the left of the image.
A late day Napa County vineyard view is the foreground. Young green vines are close to the soil. Fencing supports tower above the plantings. The hillside beyond reveals lush trees and fields with some buildings on the hilltop at the horizon. The sky is clear and moody gray.
The Point Reyes Lighthouse and visitor center is featured in this photo at the portion of the Point Reyes National Seashore that juts 10 miles (16km) out to sea. The Lighthouse was built in 1870 to warn mariners of this navigational hazard. The land mass is golden with crumbling cliffs. One must stay on the trail and steps. Beyond is the dark blue Pacific Ocean with a bit of blue sky at the horizon.
In San Rafael, CA, see a close up of pinkish orange maple leaves. Thin branches are visible. The color is intense and wonderful.
The serenity felt while taking in this view of the Pacific Ocean was a gratitude moment. The sea in Bodega Bay, CA was calm. Small waves are visible, including the most prominent one lapping over a rock near the middle right of this photo. Also, very hard to see is a flock of birds below the horizon line on the right half. This soft blue color of the Pacific Ocean and the sky above is peaceful. May you all have peace today and always.
The Grand Canyon is known to be magnificent. This photo is a view of the geology, of a massive rock wall with strata of horizontal layers accumulated over time. The colors are shades of orange and dark gray with the strata layers off white. One feels very small next to the wonders of earth's grandeur.
Golden poppy flowers are the focus. One bee is hovering over the flower with petals completely open in the lower area of the photo. Other poppies above this one are partially open. Foliage and seed pods are visible along with some small purple flowers at the upper portion of this vertical photo. As the California state flower, they appear cheerful and abundant. These flowers grace my Rotary Club’s Peace Garden.
Vines growing over two Zen statues grace a hilly yard in West Marin. Ferns and vines grow in the foreground with two oak trees growing behind. The statues of Buddhist monks were crafted with gentle smiles. May peace and serenity spread naturally just like these vines.
The August image from Engel & Völkers features waterfront homes with boats docked highlighting the lifestyle available here. Hills and the magnificent Mount Tamalpais in the background attract attention. Blue sky days are common in Marin County.
Here is a close-up phone photo of a raspberry-colored hibiscus flower. In the center of the pedals are multiple yellow pollen grain stamens with red stigma at the tips of the five styles resembling a star. Shadows appear on the pedals from the sun reflecting on the backside of this lovely and delicate hibiscus flower.
The Engel & Völkers image for July 2025 home sales statistics shows a serene view from Marin County to the San Francisco skyline at dusk. It includes a layer of pink colored clouds or fog above the horizon. The sky above it is light blue. The bay is blue with a touch of pink reflected on the water from the sky above. The Marin darkening land mass in the foreground is dotted with homes and businesses at the end of a beautiful day.
Buddy Guy performed in Santa Rosa, CA on August 13, 2025 at the Luther Burbank Center For The Arts. Here he is on stage with a blue and white polka dot Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. He is wearing a blue Legends baseball cap, overalls and a long sleeved white shirt with blue flowers and green leaves. He is singing and not playing the guitar in this phone photo. The audience was overjoyed to see and hear Buddy perform the blues at 89 years old. His son joined the band on guitar near the end of the concert. I was blessed to experience this memorable event!
The simple beauty of lavender colored pennyroyal flowers growing around a fence post with barb wire was irresistible. I had to pull my car over for a few photos. The aged vertical wood post appears to have green moss and lichen growing on it adding another texture to the rough grain.
In the foreground, one sees purple vetch, known as Vicia sativa growing lush in the greenery. Beyond, a lovely oak tree stands on a gentle incline with a dirt road to the rear of this 51.78+/- acres for sale in Napa, CA backing up to the Silverado Country Club and Resort. In the distance, a hilltop is seen on the right side of the image. The April sunny, blue-sky day is free of clouds.
Homes in southern Marin County, on and near the water of the San Francisco Bay, are built on the hills and in the flats. Fog is rolling in beyond the homes and trees. It is a sunny day. Both the sky and the water are beautifully blue.

In this photo of Marin County, the foreground features the shrub Pride of Madeira (Echium candicans or Echium fastuosum). The long purple spikes of flowers are very attractive but non-native. Beyond the flowers is the San Francisco Bay with docks and small boats near the shore. Sailboats and Angel Island on the distant horizon show the glorious outdoor lifestyle in the Bay Area. The blue sky includes puffy white clouds.
The image signifies the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Rotary Club of West Marin being chartered with District 5150. It shows a vibrant blue-sky day with white clouds and some balloons in the air. There is also a path with colorful flowers on both sides. There appears to be a person walking at the end of the path on the horizon at the base of the image. The Rotary symbol in the sky is next to the name of my club. Below this is a gold rim around a black circle noting the 20-year anniversary in text. I started gathering members in 2002 with weekly meetings.
Turkey tail mushrooms in shades of cream to dark brown are growing up two sections of a slightly leaning Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo). The closer section of the tree is not in focus. Instead, the distant mushrooms are what I chose to focus on. The rough bark of the tree is reddish-brown. Green foliage is seen as ground cover beyond the mushroom covered tree. This is a phone photo.
The image is of the Point Reyes Lighthouse located in the Gulf of the Farallones on the Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, CA. With intense exposure to the elements, it takes a beating. One sees the blue green Pacific Ocean beyond the lighthouse and buildings. The park's adjacent Lighthouse Visitor Center has exhibits about the lighthouse and the park's marine life and natural history. Visitors can climb about 300 steps down to the lighthouse itself, weather permitting. The main chamber of the lighthouse, known as the Lens Room, features the Fresnel lens and clockwork mechanism, and is open to the public on a limited basis.
Viewing Napa Valley hillsides covered in grape vines late in the afternoon is a sight to behold. This image reflects the lush bright green color of well-tended vineyards from the foreground to the distant horizon. The sky is approaching sunset coloring with puffy clouds.

The view is from the rocky shore of Marin County coastline looking out to sea. At the end of day, it felt dark and moody with sunlight reflected in the foreground rocks filled with water. The purple hue in sky and ocean against the black rocks was a surprise.

What a treat to see David Crosby after his release from a Texas prison. Here he is performing with Paul Kantner on October 30, 1986, in Half Moon Bay, CA. It was at the Miramar Beach Inn. They are dimly lit. The background is very dark. I choose not to use flash so as to not disturb the moment. He told the audience, if you ever buy a particularly bad mattress, that would have been him. He worked in prison making mattresses. Wow!
Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead was singing in Berkeley, CA (April 1986). The stage is very dark, and you do not see other band members. Bob is dimly lit and emotive.
Fairfax hills and ridgelines are green thanks to rain. Another time of year, trees will stand out green against dry golden grasses. Hiking, horseback riding and bicycle riding are very popular here. The sky is blue with wisps of clouds.
Looking up to the crown of this palm tree, one sees the fronds spread out reaching for the blue sky.
Turkey tail (Trametes versicolor) is a mushroom displaying several colors. This lovely specimen growing on a tree stump in Marin County, CA appears to be blue gray with bands of browns and beige.
Two horses in Nicasio, CA happily graze in the foreground with trees and hills beyond. The blue sky is decorated with wispy clouds. A beautiful day indeed.
In Yosemite, large rocks in a river are accompanied by smaller rocks. The water in motion appears white and silky.

This view of Bryce Canyon National Park highlights unique geological features in Utah. One sees through an opening in the pink colored sedimentary rock to see distant trees, light snow and peaks. Snow remains on the downslope on the right side of the photo. Lovely clouds decorate the blue sky for a beautiful day spent in nature.
