MicroSeq2026 is an online meeting being held on September 2nd and 3rd, focused on research being conducted on sequencing data generated from microbiological samples (bacteria, fungi, and viruses). MicroSeq2026's cash prizes for best talk ($150) and best lightning talk ($50) are sponsored by The Australian Society for Microbiology. The best virology talk ($100) is sponsored by the Australasian Virology Society. The People's Choice awards for best talk ($100) and best lightning talk ($50) are sponsored by Microbial Genomics. Additional prizes include the Innovation in Bioinformatics award ($100) and the new Outstanding Outreach award ($100). Merch prizes will be given to the best question asked in each session.
