Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights. If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights." We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins. To me, polyamory means that I don't have to experience guilt for feeling affection. There are so many kind and wonderful people out there, and I know I'd be missing out on connections that improve my life if I strictly controlled who l'm allowed to love.

Demanding you being the only source of pleasure and support in their life is possessive and toxic. Even if you're monogamous. This is not just for polyamorous people. Your partner is allowed to have fulfilling friendships outside of you. Your partner is allowed to turn to other people to help meet their needs. Demanding that they only come to you is unrealistic, toxic, possessive, and an unhealthy dynamic. The narrative that your partner should get everything from you - and you get everything from them - is a harmful product of bad rom coms. Don't fall for it.
