Writer Preview Their feet went from crunching on snow to clicking on marble as they entered the palace and were greeted by those working for the Tsaritsa. While most of the party was led to their rooms or given tours, the Khaenri'an leadership was led elsewhere to meet the Tsaritsa's court. That's where Lumine first saw him. The Tsaritsa presented her and the Sovereign's Harbingers-a system left over from a time of war now adapted for peace, focused on domestic affairs. Lumine vaguely recognised a few, but one stood out to her, the youngest and newest-Ajax, with eyes as bright as the snow of the region he was native to and hair as warm as fire. The warmth in his eyes enveloped Lumine as they shook hands and introduced themselves. There was something familiar in them, too, and it was clearer than any of the fragments she'd caught before. She was certain she'd never met him; he couldn't be from the previous cycle either. And yet his name awoke a region of her memories that nothing else had in such a vivid way.
