Screenshot of a reddit comment by mintsweettea30 (user flair: paralives supporter) I've played 30 hours in the game and I'm really enjoying it, but I don't necessarily disagree with any of the criticisms of the game here. I think, like what was discussed in other comments, this person watched a lot of extra early access videos in addition to only playing those 40 minutes. What I do disagree with, though, is the suggestion to buy the game now even if you think it sucks (whether to support the team or stick it to EA). I have seen a similar sentiment in the paralives sub, with the parasocial attachment many people have towards the team (although there I see it more in the sense of people getting anxious about the no paid DLC model). My main thought is this: [bold, italicized] It is not our responsibility as consumers to keep a company afloat. [end bold, italicized] I understand the fear that, if this doesn't pan out, we will be down one life sim, and I understand being upset at potential loss of potential (I was very excited about LBY, I know how it feels!). But at the end of the day, they are a company making a profit off of us. It is their responsibility to make a game worth buying and it is their responsibility to make viable financial decisions. That being said, if you personally believe in this game and want to invest in it hoping that it would one day be better, knowing that there is a risk that the game may only ever be what it is now and nothing more, that is your decision to make (I made it, and I'm happy with that choice!), but I highly disagree with manipulating people to purchase something just because you care more about a company's bottom line than people wasting money. (and just to be clear, I don't think that the paralives team is some money hungry evil corporation or anything like that. some people just seem to treat them more like friends than a company selling us a product and I think that distinction is very important.)
