This flower is what my mother calls a Rose of Sharon. I know that it’s related to the hibiscus & it grows easily. This bloom has pinkish-purple petals that turn deep red as they reach the center. The stamen is white, although it’s hard to see because of the angle of the shot. Also because of the angle, the middle of the flower resembles a star. The picture features one bloom against a background of dark green leaves and purple buds
