This choice of adaptation feels very personal. It's hard not to see parallels between the game's premise, disposably sitting in a small room hacking away at inscrutable work with an unknown chance of success, and being a YouTuber. All the anxieties about what this 'job' entails at its worst are balled up, calcified and atrophied under years of pressure and stress, and vomited back up like rotting stones, all over the floor of the SM-13. Not quite literally, but sort of literally.

You can even make out an aurora borealis and australis at either end of the planet, and some stunning rim lighting. There's a label in the corner that says Nvidia DLSS On.

Cover of a kashiko notebook with cherry blossoms. In the blank spaces i drew a steam train pumping steam into clouds that overlook a city being rained on exclusively under an umbrella. The ink is dominant industries alexandrite, which starts as a creamy green-blue with a light sparkle, and when exposed to UV changes into a deeper plum. When outside in the shade, the ink constantly changes, so I know if the ink is getting too dark, my skin will be more senserive to UV.

Another picture from the same book- this time the cyan and black are a little better aligned. The areas of filled in black, sometimes called Key blacks, are help keep an object readable wirh offset. It's also possible that the Cyan layer was very slightly contracted! By not printing under everry close edge of the shape with cyan, a small registration error can be hidden! These are called Trapped lines. On top of that, a vrry light pass of that cuatom orange is applied. This blends with the black and blue to make it darker, but also blends any cyan on its own to be darker, resucing flicker. Even if there's still offset, it's readable, and also helps frame the panel.

The page was made with at least 3 passes of ink- cyan, black, and a custom orange. The cyan and black passes did not perfectly align, so the image jumps back and forth. The lines of the artwork were already fine, and cince this image was very shrunken down, those lines get finer. What may be a tiny misregistration gets even more impossible to make readable! If the panel were rendered just in Cyan or just black, this misregistration couls not have happened, errors less likely, and the overal printing cost down.

I *really* wish this layout had numbered/titled captions more consistenly, like any other textbook.

With no color, the shape becomes a mid-gray, but without the high saturation orange, the value, the overall lightness or darkness, feels crushed to midtones, and it loses vital contrast. The gray shape now has some compression artefacts *and* textures left over from previous half-refreshes, known as ghosting in eink devices. But the text isn't any clearer, the copy isn't selectable as a textbox, and scrolling on images is really bad on einks in general.

A small reverse text box, white text on an orange BG. The text is smalllllll, maybe 7 or so, in a condensed sans-serif font. This means the glyphs are made using very thin lines that are gaps in the color peinted on top of the paper. I know this has a print version- since the colors are black, cyan and this orange, it'a possible the original print version used pre-mixed spot colors rather than your more flexible CMYK. This means three passes of ink, not four.

When working as a newspaper designer, I took extra care that reverse text would be extra legible, because each color pass could decrease legibility. Small buta kd text like thisbtwnd to be legal details, terms, or captions, so The spot color is a good solution, since it's one pass. But as a digital version, it's all pixels, and this clearly isn't compressed well. The compression is adding in a dithering/dark halo that, while it increases contrast in theory, adds in more values for the compression algorithm to interpolate, and blends all that contrast together- and zooming makes it worse.

One, Any kind of artist/creator union is included in the system, but is not part of the system. It is vital, nay inevitable, that people will want to talk to each other, but it also needs to be positioned in a productive, non-combative way to prevent and treat the issues that come about before they get too big to solve. Union goes fo admins to prevent peiblems from being buried, but the union also has the trump card of going public if they think its in their or the industry's best interest.

Two, the three branches are what make decisions and actions for the group, not the admin per se. If, say, you want to acquire a series, you'd need support (unconditional or conditional) from 2 groups, one of ehich obviously being the presenting party. The other group of the three gets veto power over that one if something just cannot be done. If a negotiation fails, it goes to admin to arbitrate. Admin can present ideas for the others fo pursue, but it has to be unanimous support from all 3 groups- aka all 3 departments get a veto power.

These are some basic steps I've learned for illustration ad comicking that make great use of software tools to speed up workflow, and keep control over the end product. I do still know how to stitch and warp panoramics together, but it takes time, and it always has unintended flaws, but I'm still in control of the output. And the filter stuff is just math- most people my age don't know *why* it's called a multiply layer. But most importantly, these are all tools I've messed with that are at my disposal, and I've taken time to understand their function and direct them intentionally. Conflating those kinds of things with AI is a bald-faced lie and marketing scheme, and anyone who tells you otherwise has never worked an actual creative production job.

Like, you have to sacrifice a lot of time and body wear and skills and opportunity to be creative as a job, and most people that get into it for work or money are just as motivated by something creative, and that also means misuse and exploitation in creative fields gets excused WAY more than anywhere else. But at least I know what I know when the power's out.

this is a super quick and messy sketch I made-- just a square, a green fineliner for a block-in sketch, a black fine line pen for inks, and a purple mildliner. with my phone, I took 4 pictures of the image one of each corner so that each one would be overlapping, but not 100% whole. Let's say I had an 11x17 illustration to scan, but I only had an 8x11 scanner. I could scan the corners much like this, and would have more consistent lighting and higher info density, and I wouldn't have to cut up or fold the original to process it. But using a camera on a phone can be an at-hand alternative for our purposes. Note how the yelllow cast of the lights in the room I'm in tints all the colors, especially the stark white paper.

$I spent today making a new inner sketchbook for my filled-up one, 32 lb paper, b6-ish size. As paper folds over itself in signatures, even if they are exactly the same size, the pages at the very front and back have to wrap around the inner pages, while the center page only needs to fold over itself. This causes the inner pages to stick out a little, referres to as creep. Normally, you measure your total creep, here about 1/4 of an inch, or 6mm, divide that by the number of pages front to center (12 pieces of paper, not 24 pages.), and very slightly shift your content inside away from the edge by that fractional amount. Then you can easily trim this extra bit to be nice and flat, and not risk losing text or drawing to the esges. But I like the ragged edges of this paper- I folded and tore it by hand instead of cut it, and this edge won't give papercuts. I also edge my papers with a marker to loosen them up slightly and make the edges more obvious. It's a lot easier to thumb through uneven pages like this, and it gives a slight safety area as I draw.$
